Wednesday September 20th 
We are pleased to announce that a second snack-bar line will be opening outside in the courtyard at the main campus. Please try it out and enjoy lunch outside! Also instead of throwing your unopened milk or yogurt away, put it on the share table… a place where food is never wasted. 

Would you like to show off your musical talents? Then we would also like to invite students to showcase themselves to sign up to play lunchtime concerts in the courtyard. If you are interested please see Mr. Santa Cruz in the student activities office across from the cafeteria, room West-111.

Unlock your intellectual power by joining the Chess Club. First club meeting will be this Thursday, Sep.21st, at 4:00pm in room 217 with Ms. Garcia at the magnet center. Remember Chess is more than just a game, it's about creating different strategies and exercising your brain power!

Seniors interested in attending either UTEP or EPCC. Representatives from both schools will be on campus all day on the 27th and 28th in the math lab E261 to help you complete your applications. In order to attend during school, you must get a pass from the Go Center in room South-133.

Good day sir!” This is a quote from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Do you love movies? Then the cinema club sounds like a place for you! It is a club where discussion about some of the most classic films take place, we also talk about current box office hits. Meetings will be every Thursday after school starting tomorrow September 21st in room West-210. We hope to see you there! 

Are you interested in participating in Mock Trial?   It is a great way for you to gain an “insider’s view” of our judicial system, plus, gain confidence speaking in front of others and have a lot of fun at the same time! We will have our first meeting in Ms. Cundari in Room 157 at the Magnet campus today and bring your lunch --- see you there!

Students, if you would like community services hours then come out and help the Franklin Cross Country team host a meet at the Don Haskins Rec. Center on Saturday September 23rd. It will be approximately from 7am to 12:30pm.  Please see Coach Laspada to sign up.

Listen up Freshmen! Are you interested in becoming class president, vice-president or maybe holding 1 of the 10 senator positions? Then class council, which is a part of student council, is the club for you! There will be an informational meeting about officer positions and elections on Thursday during lunch beginning at 12:10 in Ms. Yost’s room, East-167.

This Friday, in the stadium at 5:30 p.m., the Star of the West Band will present a special performance of their halftime show. Bring a hat and a pair of sunglasses and watch the band perform their 2017 Production "Planet X", it starts at 5:30 and will be done by 6:30 p.m. Bring friends, family, all are welcome!

Any student wishing to compete at the Riverside Debate Tournament on September 29-30 should sign up with Mrs. Falco by Thursday of this week.

Attention all students interested in joining DECA: we will be having officer elections today! Grab your lunch and meet in Mrs. Knapp's room, w213, by 12:10!


Congratulations to the Franklin Tennis Team as they won yesterday against Pebble Hills winning 16 out of 19 lines.  They are currently undefeated in district.  Winners included:  Andrew Boland, Carlos Deleon, Mathew Norton, Servando Hernandez, Arjun Maniar, Jackson Chavez, Jacqui Escareno, Grace and Olivia Patterson, Karla Cuellar, Analiz Gonzalezand Baillie Witten.

Come check out Cougar Clawset during lunch for all your spirit gear, they have items such as hoodies, t-shirts, jewelry and car decals. They open every Friday at the main campus lobby and magnet center cafeteria. We want all students to have Cougar gear! Several t-shirts are on clearance so go get your items today!

* It’s National School Leadership Week! Today we are continuing to honor all of the club presidents and team captains. If you are the president or captain of your organization, please come by Student Activities right now on the main campus to pick up a surprise gift!
* Attention all students: There will be a MANDATORY laptop check on Tuesday April 25, 2017 during 2nd period. We are NOT checking for damages, just that you have your computer. Please make sure to bring it next Tuesday!
* Seniors, graduation gown and announcements and all other things will be delivered to Franklin for pick up on May 5th. If you haven’t ordered your gown yet, please take care of it right away online or by calling Josten’s. The Parade of Graduates is earlier this year, and you MUST have your gown by then! There will be cap and gowns available for purchase on May 5th for $65 a set.
* Seniors! If you have a 4th or 8th period out you could get community service hours to coach and prepare the kids at Kohlberg for a speech festival. For more information look for the flyers around the hallways or ask Ms. Juarez in room W209 for more information.
* You are invited to see the Nationally Recognized and Award Winning Franklin Flag Team in performance today April 21 during lunch in the 9th grade center gym. We will have information on upcoming auditions. This is your opportunity to see an awesome performance and get information about auditioning to be part of the Franklin Flag Team. This group is part of the Star of the West Marching Band and performs for thousands of people throughout the school year. We look forward to seeing you this Friday during lunch in the 9th grade center gym.
* Attention juniors and seniors, a representative from NMSU will be on campus on the 20th and on the 24th a representative from EPCC will be here to help seniors with final preparations and to assist juniors on getting a head start for next year. Come to the Go Center S133 to get a pass from Mr. Couder.
* Attention Seniors: May 1st is the deadline for you to turn in a copy of your scholarship award letters to your counselor. If you have received any scholarship offer, we would like to honor you at the awards ceremony and at the graduation ceremony. Please be sure to have all award letters turned in to your counselor by May 1st.
* Youth for Christ is still meeting weekly! English meetings are on Thursdays in Coach Castor’s room and Spanish meetings are on Mondays in Senora Guerrero’s room at lunch. Free pizza for all who come! Hope to see you there!
