Classroom Rules

1. RESPECT

Respect the Rights of Others! This is an Equal Opportunity Classroom. Courtesy, respect, and acceptable standards of behavior are to be expected, at all times! These include verbal and non-verbal (body language) behavior.

2. Get to Class

On time! Standing outside the classroom door and then rushing in after the tardy bell rings will constitute a tardy. Three (3) tardies will constitute one (1) absence. Be in your seat when it it’s time for class to begin. When you enter the classroom, display good classroom behavior.

3. Bring all Materials

To class! Bring necessary materials to class EVERYDAY: textbooks, notebooks, paper, pencils/pens, and turn in all out of class assignments when they are due. This message board will give you and your parents advanced notice of what materials are needed for the next class meeting.

4. Be Attentive

Listen carefully to the instructor and stay focused. Information from lectures may not always be repeated in class. Therefore, you must create a listening environment. Only one person should be speaking at a time. Raise your hand if you have something to contribute or have a relevant question to ask. Wait to be called upon before speaking. This is crucial in allowing all to participate in class reviews and discussions.

5. Be Responsible

Take care of yours and our supplies and equipment. Be considerate of others and their property. Participate in class activities and or group assignments. Do you want a good grade in my class? Get involved!

6. Be Neat

Let's keep our classroom area clean. Straighten your desk and police your area before you leave the classroom. Scrap paper, water bottles, and trash left in your assigned seating area shows a lack of training and discipline. Let's take pride in what we do! Assignment papers, folders, and SINBK's should be neat and in good order. These items should possess no torn, dog eared or frayed edges. If an assignment or activity is found to be unacceptable because of a lack of neatness, it will be returned and have to be redone to meet classroom standards. Of course, this will be graded at a lower level. Therefore, documents and all other assignments should be neat and legible.

Additional Comments:

Attend to personal needs before coming to class. I have been instructed and now I am informing you that no passes to lockers or to the bathroom will be issued after the tardy bell. During instructional time, the hallways must remain clear. This is for your safety so please do not ask to leave the classroom after the tardy bell. However, I will be the one who will determine if your request for a pass constitutes an emergency.

Consequences for FFI (Failure to Follow Instructions:

1. Warning-it usually comes verbally.

2. Teacher/Student Conference-This can also be accompanied by parent contact of the incident.

3. Lunch or after school Detention-will be followed by Parent contact.

4. Administrative Referral-This can be either written or electronic and is a very serious consequence.

*Please note that depending on the infraction, steps 1, 2, and 3 will not be honored. The student will be escorted to or sent to the office for discipline by the vice principal.
