Thalia I. Longoria teaches 9th grade English literature and writing. She has degrees in Journalism and English & American Literature from The University of Texas at El Paso. She has taught at the Franklin 9th Grade Center in El Paso ISD since 2009. Prior to working in education, she worked in journalism. Since transitioning to education, she remains connected to journalism by freelancing for such clients as Somos Frontera, The El Paso Times, Junior Scholastic Magazine and The New York Times. A lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas, she is committed and passionate about broadening the educational horizons of underserved communities via schools and journalism. Recently, she met one of her literary idols, Amy Tan.
