Tessie Hernandez

Welcome to my Dance Class!

My name is Tessie Hernandez and I am thrilled to be teaching dance here at Franklin High School.  Dance is one of my biggest passions and I am honored to be able to share my knowledge with Franklin Dance students.  I am a native El Pasoan and have been dancing all of my life.  My primary dance education came from ballet teachers and artistic directors Mrs. Andree Harper and Ms. Ingeborg Heuser here in El Paso.  I have also had the opportunity to train with the Houston Ballet Academy.  My professional dancing experience was with Ballet El Paso and danced with Austin Musical Theater.  My ballroom training comes from Shundo Dance Studio's teacher training program under Mando Rodriguez and Gian Carlo Greco.

My academic education includes basics and dance coursework at UTEP. I received my degree in Corporate Communication from UT Austin.  Upon graduation I was hired by the E&J Gallo Winery managing wine sales in the Austin area.   I spent 12 years selling wine before I came back to my true passion in teaching dance.

Aside from being a dance teacher here at Franklin, I am happily married to my wonderful husband Phillip and am a mother to my sweet Felipe (6) and Lucia (2).
I consider it a true privilege to be teaching dance here at Franklin High School and make it my goal to inspire my students to achieve their full artistic potential in my class.
